Known throughout Tennessee as "Old Kate", the Bell Witch took up residence with John Bell's family in 1818. "For 3 years, the spirit joked, lectured, ran off frauds & charlatans & even nursed Bell's sick wife, producing nuts & berries for the invalid out of thin air."
