Promising seventeen-year-old chef Dylan Tang enters a Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake competition that he hopes will bring in enough publicity to save his aunt's struggling Chinese takeout business. An encounter with wealthy customer Theo Somers leads to a generous donation and Dylan needing to express a gesture of thanks. Unexpectedly, Theo suggests Dylan can return the favor by being his fake date at an upcoming family wedding and Dylan reluctantly agrees. Though Dylan's fake feelings quickly turn real, he worries that Theo and his rich people problems may distract him from the competition and his future plans.
