In library use only. Available by appointment. Scholarly and research use only, with commercial use reserved for immediate family. Diaries are sealed for twenty-five years from their date of creation.
Description
Scope and content: Mr. Trabue's diaries of 1928, 1929, 1939, and 1944-1985 (with more to come) offer insights into Nashville's legal profession, its civic leaders, library, charitable institutions and various other matters. Diaries presently available to researchers are photocopied.

The Nashville Room of the Nashville Public Library also has World War I letters written by Mr. Trabue's uncle, George O'Bryan Trabue, catalogued in two volumes in its Nashville Authors Collection.
Biographical or Historical Data
Charles C. Trabue, Jr. (1910-2002), a Nashville native and graduate of the Wallace University School and Vanderbilt University, joined his father's law firm of Trabue, Hume and Armistead in Nashville in 1933. In 1947 he formed Trabue Sturdivant, which later became Trabue, Sturdivant and DeWitt. That firm merged with the Nashville office of Miller and Martin, whose name it now bears, in January 1999. Outside of his law practice, Mr. Trabue was most active in state and national bar associations, the Public Library Board of Nashville, Vanderbilt University alumni affairs, and Nashville civic and charitable associations. He died July 3, 2002, aged 91.
Ownership and Custodial History
Diaries were the creation of Mr. Trabue, donated (with the restrictions noted) to the Nashville Public Library by his widow in 2003-2005.
