Description
Scope and content: A variety of material about Tennessee lakes, rivers, streams, and other bodies of water. Most items are formally produced by the Corps of Engineers, state or local agencies, or other parts of the government, but some items are self-produced by individual authors or small organizations. Approximately one half of the collection are Corps of Engineers publications, which provide information about Corps of Engineers operations as well as history and statistics on specific projects. Most items from the Corps are filed alphabetically by the body of water, however, one subseries is specificallly designated "Corps of Engineers - Nashville District". Therein one may find materials relating to a broad spectrum of Corps' activities, not necessarily related to a single body of water. Among the items found under this heading are two quite substantial (approx. 30 pages) employee newsletters, called "Lifeline," from 1941.
Description
Among other items of special note within the collection as a whole is a brochure describing the land acquisition procedure for construction of J. Percy Priest Dam and Reservoir (circa 1963), and a compilation of mineral water bottlers in Nashville and mineral springs in Middle Tennessee (see "general" folder).
Description
Quantity of materials ranges from a single item to a few folders. Most folders contain less than five items, and often only a single item. Contains some photocopies.
