Andrew Jackson (1767 – 1845) was an American Frontiersman and General who defeated the British at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. Jackson served Tennessee as both the Senate and the House of Representatives. He also served for a short time under James Monroe as the Military Governor of Florida prior to being elected to the Presidency in 1829.
