Explains the basic premise and intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) which was signed into law in 1990. The law guarantees equal opportunities for Americans with disabilities in employment, public accomodations, transportation, state and local government, and telecommunications. The tape discusses some the types of accomodations hard-of-hearing people can expect in each of these areas, highlighting various assistive listening devices, signaling devices and use of signage. An explanation of the national SHHH organization is also given.
