Scope and content: Includes a wide variety of material relating to professional, amateur and recreational sports, individual sports teams, general sports activities (mostly for adults), seasonal and other recreational activities, amusement parks and similar location-based recreation, marathons and single-event sports, sports stadiums and venues, and related subjects. Formats include promotional material, programs, recreation guides, registration or sign-up materials, advertisements, tickets, posters, rosters, season schedules, and other materials. Quantity of materials ranges from a single item to several folders. Most folders contain less than five items, and often only a single item. Some items are photocopies.

Some of the more notable material includes several items from the Opryland U.S.A. themepark; items from the Nashville Sounds baseball team while they played at Greer Stadium; a recollection by James Hendrix about Tom Wilson, notable baseball figure in the Negro Leagues; a few items about the Iroquois Steeplechase and the Country Music Marathon; and a wide variety of other materials and subjects.

Specific subjects include: Nashville Shores; Opryland U.S.A.; Nashville Sounds; Negro Leagues baseball; Nashville Outlaws; Harpeth Bicycle Club; Tour de Nash; Nashville Kats; Music City Bowl; SpringHouse Links and Gaylord Springs golf clubs; horse racing at West Side Park; Music City Raceway and Fairgrounds Speedway; an effort to obtain a World Cup soccer game for Nashville; the Nashville Boat Racing Club; and the Nashville Ski Club, among others.
