Scope and content: Reports and data compiled about climate and weather in Tennessee and Nashville. Statewide subjects include rainfall and current water resources in Tennessee in Oct. 1974; a report on the climate of the state in Feb. 1960, including freeze data, mean temperature and precipitation, norms, means and extremes of temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind, and a map of the frequency of damage from tropical storms from 1901-1955. One statistical report produced by the Tennessee Department of Health is entitled, "Deaths of Tennessee Residents from Extreme Heat and from Extreme Cold, 1949-1980."

Items concerning weather and climate in Nashville, Tenn. include: weather extremes of snowfall, rainfall, temperature, precipitation and average temperatures, dates that the Cumberland River has frozen solid from 1876-1940, and a meteorological summary for Feb. 1951, which included "the worst ice storm in recorded history." Another report provides local climatological data for 1958.
