Description
Fourteen-year-old Frankie Mazza and her siblings were left at a Chicago orphanage--supposedly temporarily--by their destitute father. Pearl Brownlow, a ghost, who died when she was not much older than Frankie, wanders the orphanage and observes Frankie's struggle to survive after her father returns with a new family and only takes her brother with him.
