Scope and content: Oral history interview with Frances Lusky, conducted on 21 July 1976 by Leonard Wood as part of the Historic Nashville, Inc. Tennessee Centennial Oral History Project. During the 22 minute interview, Lusky discusses her family and experiences at the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, including watching sculptors Belle Kinney and Leopold Scholz work on the Parthenon.

Biographical or Historical Data
Nashville artist and civic leader Frances Lusky was born on 15 Dec. 1890 to Joseph and Carrie Barker Blum, both of whom were originally from New York. She was educated at Hume School, Fogg High School, Peabody College, and the University of Tennessee. In 1915, she married Maurice I. Lusky (1889-1983), who operated the M.I. Lusky Jewelry Company and served as president of the Francis and Lusky Company, a specialty advertising and printing firm. Lusky was a board member of the Nashville Council PTA and organized the first PTA at Hume-Fogg High School. She served as chairman of the first Jewish Welfare Campaign Women's Division and was a life member of the board of the Nashville Chapter of the American Red Cross; a member emeritus of the board of trustees of The Temple; a member of The Temple Sisterhood; and a member and corresponding secretary of the Nashville Section of the Council of Jewish women. She died in August 1980, and her body was donated to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine for research.
